Any adventure “out in the world”. starts off with when you enter the airport, or the train station or the bus stop. It’s also a bit more satisfying to have a big itinerary planned out compared to one with a few stops. Are you a person who loves the whole layover thing in multiple destinations? Well, I was too, until I did a flight to Italy via Turkey and the layover was just – so long! That’s when I thought about the whole “Business Class” sparkle. It did bite on the wallet a bit more than I expected, but with all the events of flying out on a budget, I thought that it was time to reward myself a little, cause why not?
To clarify, it was an upgrade on a couple of instances, and on some others it was paid for. So what exactly do the words “Business Class” make you think of? Extremely luxurious treatment, exquisite food, priority boarding, etc. etc. right? Well being up and down a couple of times, it was hard to look away from the glass of Champagne they serve you as soon as you are tucked in to your “bed”, and not think about the many many many points of detail that are just taken up quite a few notches. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, but I have to agree with Jennifer Aniston that we wish we could spend more time in the skies aboard an A380! (who remembers that ad?) Or how about when Jeremy Clarkson talks about how the ‘game’ changes, and that High-Definition screen?
Firstly, I have to point out (and be a little biased) that flying Emirates (Economy or Business or First) is pretty much the best way to fly, period! I haven’t really explored every airlines’ product on offer, but from all the ones I have tried so far, specifically Business Class, Emirates tops the list. With a bit of thinking and pondering and brainstorming, I have a conjured list of 3 top reasons to support this:
1. Your own Chauffeur!
Who doesn’t love a good ol pick and drop service from Home to Airport or vice verca? Haven’t gotten a chance to sit in the new BMWs in Dubai yet,
But the quality of fleet in Mumbai and Vienna is simply wonderful! As you land in CSIA (Mumbai Airport), you’re picked up in an extremely luxurious Mercedes E Class, and dropped in one too when you need to return. I was even more excited when I was picked up from my Hotel in Vienna in a freakin’ Jaguar! Extremely friendly Chauffeur, and the drive through the city was just…blissful! It all felt very “premium-y”
2. EK Business Class Lounge, Dubai
Yes, I have had the opportunity to see almost all the lounges in all the places I’ve been to (thanks to some of the Credit Cards, Loyalty Memberships, FF Clubs, etc. etc.), and of all, I can’t help but put the EK Business Lounge in Dubai on the the number one spot. (Pardon me, but the First Class would definitely be better, but this is from what I’ve experienced till now).
Walking into the lounge and exploring the various bells and whistles is a mile long a walk in itself. Now why do people get all excited with lounges? The free food, the alcohol, the “premium” feeling, right? Yes, yes and yes. Firstly, the lounge has a bar that has an exquisite portfolio of alcohol. From champagne to fine scotch to wines, its all there. Secondly, the food is, if not the best, extremely good for lounge food! It’s not just a few trays of pre-packaged sandwiches or the usual array of salads we see everywhere, I was a bit surprised when I saw the wait staff brought me a plate of chicken ravioli in truffle cream sauce. I didn’t ask for it – but they darn well knew exactly what I wanted!
And so, 2 hours went by, and it was time to board…
3. Flight Experience
I’ll keep this point short, cause the pictures speak for themselves.
The crew usually serves Champagne before flight, but at 4AM, I felt an Orange Juice would settle my tummy.
Here’s the thing that sets Emirates apart. It’s amazingly beautiful A380 Onboard lounge. It was a 6 hour flight from Vienna, and I think I spent an hour here just socializing with everyone. That glass / (those glasses) of Double Black did quite the trick too!
Food on an Emirates Business Class flight has never disappointed me ever. The flight from Vienna, I was served a perfectly cooked Tenderloin with celery soup, and a sweet King Breakfast of scrambled eggs on the return from Mumbai. Well, the best part is you get to choose what exactly you want to be served. So essentially, you don’t have to ever leave your seat! Oh and a big big thumbs up to those tiny salt and pepper shakers with the olive oil!

Sure it's just a Cream of Celery soup…but that paired with a glass of 2013 Chablis cruising at 39,000 feet in a 'seriously' comfortable seat is just…bliss! #food #foodphotography #foodporn #foodgasm #foodie #goodfood #soup #travel #traveldiaries #eurotrip #europe #emirates #ek #businessclass #celery #withtrevor #igers #igdaily #instagood #instapic #instafood #instatravel #a380 #airbus #salad #thegoodlife

Never ever had a problem with the food on board an Emirates flight, be it economy or business. Thought this simple breakfast deserved some attention! 😋 #travel #traveldiaries #travelling #travelblogger #withtrevor #businessclass #food #foodphotography #foodporn #foodgasm #foodie #goodfood #breakfast #inflight #inflightmeal #instapic #instafood #instatravel #igers #igdaily #emirates #ek #yumyum
And of course, towards then end of the flight, if you want to sleep – you just tell the lovely crew to make you a bed and voilá, you’re sleeping at 40,000 feet above the Earth!
Yes, the whole Business Class experience is indeed (atleast) a once in a life time thing. And if its within the range, it is something you must go in for, atleast once! After all, wouldn’t you want your own legroom on those long haul flights?
