It’s not hard to say that we all want good food in life. After all, after our busy schedules, don’t we all love to sit down with a cup of coffee, and munch on some good food? Quite certainly, the best place to find such solace would be far away from the hustle and bustle of city streets. However, right in the centre of one of the most busy spots in the capital, lies a very “handmade” and “relaxing” spot called Café 302. The café is part of the Al Maha Arjaan by Rotana, and has a view of…well…the traffic on Hamdan Street. What it may lack in the scenery of beaches and clouds and gushing landscapes, it compensates in its delicate interiors. Most of the chalk written boards speak out volumes of comfort and peace, while the aroma of freshly brewed coffee makes you wish you brought your pajamas along.
Been here for 45 seconds and I must say that @cafe302 is an most certainly an absolutely beautiful café! So we headed for what I can only call a “business lunch”. Pardon me if I don’t talk about the breakfast or the coffee in this post, but I can assure you, the food is well worth the visit! This was my third visit to the café by the way. Not that I was not convinced that this wasn’t a beautiful place, but because this one particular sandwich here is so addictive. Yes, addictive!
I know this is a very very tiny aspect of any place we go to dine at, but it matters. That bread basket with the cheese spread (topped with what felt like a pesto) was so delicious. I wish I didn’t stuff myself with that, but I did.
One thing that filled my head full of questions was the variety in the menu. Clearly, this place thrives on its breakfast! And as always, the Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon looks the most inviting! (Oh! That Hollandaise!) The fact that it has salads, sandwiches, sharing platters, 2 burgers, entrées that differ from each other, pizzas and pastas, got me thinking about the very concept of this café. Was it misleading? Well, slightly. Was it confusing? Honestly, no! The menu is perfect! Short and Sweet! And that’s what I love about this place. You get in, you have a look at the menu, and within two or three minutes, you know exactly what to order. Don’t you just hate it when you’re at a restaurant, and ten minutes into taking a seat, you’re still stuck on which starter to choose.
Remember when I said this was my third visit? Well, before I talk about the sandwich I mentioned about earlier, I should mention about the roast chicken I ordered this time…
I know what you must be thinking – how stupid of me to go to a nice place and order a roast chicken! Well, its a debatable topic. You see, this was no ordinary roast chicken. At least not the usual type of roast we get from everywhere. This tastes somewhat, different! Marinated with some type of spice (I honestly haven’t had before), this half chicken was very very moist! Served along with a house salad, grilled broccoli and house fries, I really liked this dish! Quite perfect for a business lunch…light and hearty!
Braised Short Rib Sandwich – The Best Sandwich!
Arguably one the best sandwiches I have ever tasted till date…and I'm not using that term loosely here. This is a Braised Beef Short Rib on a Rustic Baguette with aioli, aged cheddar and rocca from @cafe302 ~ Simple and amazing! #food #foodphotography #foodporn #foodgasm #foodie #goodfood #cafe #outdoordining #sandwich #braised #ribs #withtrevor #instagood #instapic #instafood #igers #igdaily #foodblogger #myabudhabi #cafe302
Hands down, or hands in the air, or hands around this rustic roll, but this is absolutely the best sandwich ever! (At least what I have tasted in town, period). It consists of incredibly tender Braised Short Rib delicately layered on a Rustic Roll with Aged Cheddar and Rocca. Yes, its that simple, but its the most divine sandwich ever. Of course, as every sandwich and burger served at this café, you get a portion of fries and salad too (for those times you feel guilty about…well, the cheese). If there was one thing I could tell you right now, that would be the “takeaway” of this post, is to go there and order one (a whole portion) for yourself. Trust me, you won’t regret that decision!
