Ultimate Weekend at LongBeach CampGround

We’ve all been through those times when we’ve planned endlessly, but that road (or “Goa”) trip never materialized. Or how about when there were always issues with the weather, or the vehicle itself? The LongBeach CampGround at Bin Majid Beach Hotel takes away all those uncertainties and presents you with (what I can only call) “The Ultimate Weekend Getaway”. Sure it may not be in another country (for residents of the UAE), but the drive to Ras Al Khaimah and the experience of spending 24 hours on a beach is by itself worthy of an entry in your travel diary.

(If you’re coffee is getting cold…ie…the short version)

The LongBeach CampGround is a unique package offered by Bin Majid Beach Hotel (Ras al Khaimah) that promises a memorable and unforgettable experience for anyone and everyone who gives in to their “inner-adventure-bug”. While the warm and friendly staff of Bin Majid Beach Hotel literally “creates the camp” , all you need to do is show up, have fun and enjoy the moment! On arrival, guests are provided with beautifully furnished bell tents with a capacity of either 1-2 (smaller) or 3-4 (bigger) people, with quick and easy access to every feature of the LongBeach CampGround. The beach is studded with various “activity hubs” that promises something to do for everyone in the family. This includes a Bonfire, Live Cooking Stations, Cinema on Beanbags under the stars, Sunrise Yoga, Kayaking and many many more. A carefully curated schedule of events ensures that your stay at the LongBeach CampGround will always keep you entertained. Running for an entire 24 hours, a weekend at the LongBeach CampGround is a getaway adventure on a beach, a serene and peaceful experience under the stars and an opportunity to disconnect & unwind.

The facts…

The LongBeach CampGround is available every weekend until 30th of April 2018, and is priced at AED 599 for two guests, AED 799 for three and AED 999 for four. This is definitely a perfect weekend getaway for the Singles, the Couples, Families as well as Teams Outings! And hey, for the Lovebirds, a Private Romantic Dinner, along with sunset by the beach, can be requested for any and every special occasion (Yes, I am talking about the upcoming Valentine’s Day).

Beach + Sunset + Roses + Freshly Cooked Dinner = True Love, yes?

For a hotel that has a gorgeous beachfront which offers nothing short of absolute privacy, Bin Majid Beach Hotels, in my opinion, has seriously done a very great job in creating a package for its guests that truly offers a unique and unrivaled experience. Held every weekend from 2PM Friday to 2PM Saturday, the limited number of weekends available until 30th of April only means that you need to reserve your tent as soon as possible, before its all booked out. For reserving this awesome adventure, you can call 800-5700 or check the availability online at Bin Majid Beach Hotel.

(if you’ve just brewed your coffee…ie…the long version)

Hearing about an exclusive camping experience that was held by a hotel was by itself quite bewildering. Adding to the confusion, we were unsure how it would feel like to sleep in a tent, on a beach, in the cold weather. On checking-in the LongBeach and stepping onto the cold sand with the backdrop of a sunset, we knew this was going to be fun. The entire stretch of the beach echoed with crashing waves and with Goldilocks’ “just right” type of music. I suggest playing the following song as you keep reading this post.

If I have to describe the “vibe”, I’d have to say it was a sort of place away from the hustles and noises of the city where everyone was in the mood of just relaxing. Something we were definitely surprised with was the quality of furnishing inside the tents – it was absolutely something cozy, and I really wish this LongBeach CampGround could be extended for an entire week.

About 5PM in the evening with the sun slowly dwindling into the horizon, we all had smiles on our faces. Talk about a perfect moment to grab a cup of coffee and walk across the beach.

Time for FOOD

About two hours into this peaceful ceremony, it was time to join the chefs on the grill. With all honesty, we were a bit confused when we walked up to the BBQ station and saw the chef standing there doing nothing. He did gracefully set up the entire station, with coals blazing, and an array of skewers ready to be grilled. We then asked him “Chef, what will you be cooking for us today?” Sprinkling the last bit of pepper on the chicken, he looked at us and said “I’m just here to watch – you will be cooking today” with a smirk on his face.

As you may all know by now, I LOVE COOKING. And the next best thing to cooking at home, is to cook with a chef in a hotel. Imagine this and agree with me if you will – we all (or most of us) LOVE BBQs, right? Everything was setup, marinated and just ready to be thrown on the barbie. At that instant, we jumped to it. Shrimp & chicken skewers, marinated steak, freshly ground beef burgers, assorted cuts of vegetables grilling away while the sea kept crashing the shore. Yes, we did take up a small part of the grilling station, and a DIY BBQ (minus the coal headache and marinating the meat) was exactly what we needed at that moment. And once our food was freshly grilled (by us), our caveman (& cavewoman) instincts did start to show up indeed. After all,

WE MAKE FIRE…COOK MEAT!

And after all that grilling, a table full of condiments (like burger buns, caramelized onions, condiments and salads) just made the whole “DIY experience” twenty times better! I really couldn’t find anything better to ask for. In my opinion (again), it definitely is one of the best activities at the LongBeach CampGround to experience, where the whole family truly get hands on and interactive. (A hidden feature of this particular activity is how social it can be, to meet new people around you – since food is…quite certainly…the universal language)

For those who want something a bit less of an effort, there are of course other options from a salad bar, to a freshly cooked Paella & Mussels station to an entire Roast Lamb over an open fire.

That Roast Lamb though...

Of course, all of the above does come with an unlimited supply of Selected Beverages. And to top it off, the camp has a designated area for guests to de-stress and enjoy the ultimate epitome of relaxation – watching a movie under the stars, at the beach, on bean bags. Of course, I was way too relaxed to click a photo of this. Rest assured, it was magical. You can take my word for it.

Under the Stars

At the time of our visit, the temperature scales did drop to a low of 10° at midnight, so it definitely was a blissful night’s sleep! For those who are intimated by the Celsius readings, can bring layers and layers of clothing. Although, the tent is equipped with blankets and throws, so you should be totally fine! Of course, you can always ask the helpful staff for more layers if the night is a bit more chilly than usual.

Cue…Morning…6AM

The morning starts off with a “Sunrise Yoga” that is intended for everyone to detangle and become one with nature (with the lovely sunrise).

Of course, for all those lazy birds, you can always skip this and head straight for the coffee (or tea). With over 15 pots of coffee and tea and a variety of morning beverages to fuel every occupant of the beach, you wake up to a “breakfast-ready” setting that’s almost converted magically overnight by the lovely staff – something like elves and toys.

Chef Khalid is simply an amazing personality to discover at the Camp. His knowledge and experience of food is simply amazing! After all this…you just sit and enjoy your breakfast for hours…

The schedule of activities does go into various themes like Kayaking, Aerobics, Beach Volleyball, Kite Flying, Egg Hunting, etc. Leaving the camp at the end of your stay could get a bit difficult – cause you start missing it a lot, but hey, its all the more reason to return the following weekend!
